Compassionate Inquiry

Let Your Body Do The Talking

+++ Please note that I am not taking new CI clients for the time being +++

When we struggle with looping thoughts, self-judgement, anxiety, addiction and trauma the body tells the story too. It’s language is pain, a knot in the stomach, a lump in the throat, tension, disconnection, depression … illness.
Let your body do the talking and discover what informs your inner critic, what motivates you to sooth with food, where are the behaviours triggered that don’t match with your authentic self, what stops you from following that big dream or take that first step. Compassionate Inquiry looks at what the body holds.

Compassionate Inquiry (CI) is a psychotherpeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté combining talking therapy with body inquiry.

“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them …that’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”

~ Dr. Gabor Maté

Becoming aware of our triggers and drivers gives us a choice in how we respond to life, the people and events around us.

“Before you can hear, much less follow, the voice of your soul, you have to win back your body. You have to go on a pilgrimage beneath the skin.”

~ Meggan Watterson

What does CI session look like?

☼ Meet me in Raheny for a one to one session or connect via Zoom.
☼ Each session focuses on a specific question, behaviour, event and is tailoured to your needs and goals.
☼ It lasts about an hour. First sessions 90minutes to allow for that first meeting, questions, your reasons for coming, your aims and goals.
☼ We may begin with some breathing, a few minutes to arrive in session, tune in and understand what it is you wish to talk about, what happened, where you’d like to be after the session.
☼ I will guide you through the inquiry with questions and space to feel, I may challenge your narrative, interupt your story, reframe what is being said.
☼ I commit to hold a space of safety and trust so that you can explore your emotions, feelings and thoughts without judgment.
☼ We will discover the origins, beliefs and dynamics that cause you pain and develop ways to reconnect with yourself.

What will I find out through CI? How will it help me?

☼ Cultivate to be present with yourself and compassionate with everything “that is”, breath by breath, moment by moment.
☼ Listen to the language of your body, understand and satisfy your own needs.
☼ Become aware of self judgement and it’s origins.
☼ Relate to your emotions with compassion and mindfulness.
☼ Express what needs to be expressed.
☼ Create respons-ability for your life.
☼ Understand what stops you from living your creative potential.
☼ Discover the unconscious beliefs that limit you and transform them.

“Trauma is not what happened to you. Trauma is what happened inside you.”
